Kids Constellations – Presenter: Sharon Ruvane
Sharon works directly with children in the school setting. She is a Family Constellations Facilitator and an ASHA Certified Speech and Language Pathologist with a 20-year school career. Kids Constellations was introduced in September 2012 and taught an after school enrichment program to children in grades 4-6 in Connecticut. Sharon created Kids Constellations in response to her belief that kids with learning disabilities feel perpetually excluded and are longing to make deeper connections to their schools and to each other. Through a series of kid-friendly activities, participants experience belonging, life’s balance of give and take, and trying on the shoes of younger/older.
In this workshop, you will be introduced to the activities and the kids of Kids Constellations. Included will be interviews with some of the children who participated, the school administrators who supported this concept, and the parents who witnessed positive changes. An in-school model for referral of students requiring additional support will also be shared.
