Rev. Laura Gentry
Laughing with Your Ancestors
Using an innovative method called laughter yoga, which was developed by a medical doctor and is currently being practiced in over 70 countries around the world, people can laugh for extended periods of time. The laughter flows between people contagiously rather than from comedy or jokes. It is a mindful and transformational method.
Because of this unique power, laughter can be combined with Family and Systemic Constellations work to produce surprisingly positive results. Laughing in the context of a constellation helps to restore the flow of love in an embodied way. Healing statements are uttered followed by extended bouts of laughter. This further breaks down barriers between people, provides a cathartic release, and floods the body with feel-good hormones. This novel fusion of Family Constellations and laughter has the potential to release deep layers of pain and to meaningfully connect with ones ancestors.
Having presented on six continents, the Reverend Laura Gentry is an internationally known figure in the field of therapeutic laughter. Using a method of laughing contagiously called Laughter Yoga, she brings the healing power of laughter to a variety of contexts including integrative medicine, wellness conferences, and communities of faith.
Gentry is an ordained minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and holds two masters degrees from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California. She is also a Master Teacher of Laughter Yoga and directs the Iowa School of Laughter Yoga. Gentry has been named a Laughter Ambassador by the international Laughter University of Bangalore. She is also an author and producer of many laughter educational sources. She has studied constellations work with bay area trainer, Peter Devries. Most recently, Gentry has developed an innovative process of merging therapeutic laughter and Family and Systemic Constellations work.
